Since 1992, the one constant in the ever-shifting cast of ”Law & Order” has been Jerry Orbach as Detective Lennie Briscoe. But now Orbach is planning to bid farewell to the show at the end of this season, according to the Hollywood Reporter. It’s not clear how the show will explain Briscoe’s departure, but one possibility is that his partner, Detective Ed Green (Jesse L. Martin), will receive a promotion, according to the trade paper.

A spokesman for the show declined to comment to the Reporter, saying, ”Law & Order has a 15-year track record of [producer] Dick Wolf never commenting on casting changes during the season.” Orbach, 68, may still return with a part on the fourth ”Law & Order” spinoff, ”Law & Order: Trial By Jury,” according to the Reporter. Any word on when we can see ”Law & Order: Enough Already”?
