''life as we know it'' rings a ''Bell''

The sexed-up kids of the new ABC drama have squeaky-clean counterparts in the cast of ''Saved by the Bell''

Three guys, three girls, one hormones-blazing high school: The characters in ABC’s new boys-just-wanna-have-sex teen drama life as we know it are dead ringers for the beloved (if less, uh, loved) gang of NBC’s Saved by the Bell (1989-93)…the only thing missing is The Max.

The Pretty Boy Bell‘s Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) assumed he could have any girl in school; life‘s Dino (Sean Faris) plants his mug three inches from the camera to tell us he can hook up whenever he wants.

The Sidekick Bell‘s Slater (Mario Lopez) called Zack ”preppy” and made bad choices with women (the uppity Jessie); life‘s Ben (Jon Foster) dresses preppy and makes bad choices with women (his English teacher).

The Nerd Bell‘s science geek Screech (Dustin Diamond) was the butt of the show’s lame jokes; life‘s Jonathan (Chris Lowell) has chemistry with Deborah, but his lackluster sex life is the butt of his friends’ jokes.

The Teen Queen Bell‘s Kelly (Tiffani-Amber Thiessen) played volleyball, mind games, and hard-to-get; life‘s Jackie (Missy Peregrym) plays soccer, mind games, and hard-to-get… until her parents go away for the weekend.

The Know-It-All Bell‘s hyper-involved Jessie (Elizabeth Berkley) put friends down for not being perfect, like herself; life‘s hyper-involved Sue (Jessica Lucas) puts a friend down for thinking a guy likes her for herself.

The Unique One Bell‘s Lisa (Lark Voorhies) knows fashion and is the source of gossip; life‘s Deborah (Kelly Osbourne) knows cool bands and is the subject of gossip when she makes out with Jonathan in public.
