The holiday movie season gets back into high gear this weekend with the arrival of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which stands to be one of the biggest movies of the year.

Based on the beloved C.S. Lewis book, Narnia has a kid-friendly PG rating and Christian overtones that will appeal to families across the country. Add to that the teenage fans who’ll show up for the special effects and you have a debut that could soar to $50 million.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. releases the political drama Syriana in around 1,200 theaters after a few weeks of limited release, and the ensemble film, starring George Clooney and Matt Damon, should see a gross of $12 million.

Harry Potter will finally fall from its perch atop the box office chart, slipping to $11 million, while Aeon Flux and Walk the Line will each add $6 million to their coffers. But the top five will see a major shakeup with the arrival of King Kong next Wednesday.
