Lohan gets another DUI
Lindsay Lohan was arrested on drunk-driving charges in Santa Monica, Calif., early Tuesday morning, according to TMZ. Lohan was allegedly stopped by police after she was spotted chasing another vehicle, and her blood alcohol level was reportedly between 0.12 and 0.13. The legal limit is 0.08. The site also quotes a source saying that the cops found cocaine in Lohan’s pocket. The actress already had her license suspended for an alleged DUI car accident over Memorial Day. She was due in court next month on that charge. Lohan, who had been voluntarily wearing a SCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet since she left rehab on July 13, was reportedly released on $25,000 bail. Her lawyer released a statement saying she has checked into an undisclosed rehab facility. (People)

Whitaker guesting on American Dad
In a coup for the Fox animated sitcom American Dad, producers announced at the TCA tour this week that Oscar-winning Last King of Scotland star Forest Whitaker will be a guest voice on the season premiere. In a role that sounds loosely based on his recurring work as Lieutenant Jon Kavanaugh in The Shield, Whitaker is set to play an Internal Affairs agent who?s on the tail of Stan Smith, the CIA-agent lead character of the series. The episode, titled ”Meter Maid,” airs Sunday, Sept. 30.

HBO renews Big Love for third season
HBO has picked up a 12-episode third season of its drama series Big Love, which stars Bill Paxton and Chloe Sevigny as members of a polygamous family in Utah. Shooting is scheduled to start in November. Big Love‘s ratings have fallen since it launched in the Sunday night timeslot following The Sopranos. The show started averaging 4 million viewers in its initial airing but after moving to Mondays settled for around two million. Producers didn’t expect to hear whether they’d get renewed until the end of the summer, but HBO pushed up the production schedule so that the new season could be completed and ready to air before a possible labor stoppage shuts down production next June. Disturbia duo reunite for comic adaptation
Director D.J. Caruso and writer Carl Ellsworth, the duo behind Disturbia, are reuniting for Y: The Last Man, New Line Cinema’s adaptation of the Vertigo comic book. Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s comic centers on Yorick, an escape artist who is the last survivor of a plague that killed every male mammal on earth. With his male pet monkey, he sets out to find what might have wiped out the world’s male chromosomes. Caruso also directed The Salton Sea and Two for the Money. Ellsworth started his career by writing on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. His first feature writing credit was DreamWorks’ 2005 thriller Red Eye. (Hollywood Reporter)

Rapaport lands deal with Fox
Michael Rapaport (The War at Home) has landed a recurring role on the third season of 20th Century Fox Television’s My Name Is Earl, which airs on NBC. When the show returns in the fall, Earl (Jason Lee) will be in prison, and Rapaport will play a fellow prisoner. Additionally, Rapaport has signed a development deal with 20th Century Fox TV in which the studio will develop a project for the actor, aiming for the 2008-09 season. It has not yet been determined whether the show will be a drama or a comedy, as Rapaport has done both. Rapaport opted to go with 20th TV based on his experience starring in Fugly, the studio’s comedy pilot for CBS, this past development season. That pilot, written and executive produced by Earl creator/executive producer Greg Garcia, led to his character on Earl, which Garcia created for the actor. (Hollywood Reporter)

Esai Morales joins Jericho
NYPD Blue alum Esai Morales will appear as a recurring character on the next season of CBS’ Jericho. Morales will appear in six of the season’s seven episodes as Col. Hoffman, a career military officer and Iraq War veteran who has not heard from his wife since the day of the attacks. Jericho was canceled in May but picked up for a short midseason order after a huge fan campaign to keep the show alive. Morales recently starred on Fox’s series Vanished, as well as its drama pilot The Cure, and the feature Fast Food Nation. (Hollywood Reporter)

CBS cancels Pirate Master
CBS has canceled Mark Burnett’s ratings-challenged reality series Pirate Master. The five remaining episodes will be streamed at CBS.com. (Variety)

ABC doing Sesame Street Christmas special
Ben Stiller, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, Tony Sirico, Steve Schirripa, and singers Alicia Keys, Sheryl Crow, and Brad Paisley have signed on for Elmo’s Christmas Countdown, a one-hour special ABC will air during the upcoming holiday season. The celebrity guests will help host Elmo count down the days leading up to Christmas. Stiller will voice Stiller the Elf, a Muppet modeled in his own likeness. The Sopranos‘ Sirico and Shirripa will do a skit in which they will play Bert and Ernie with guidance from the real Muppets. Big Bird, Grover, Oscar, Count von Count, and Snuffleupagus will also make appearances. (Hollywood Reporter)

Rage Against The Machine and Daft Punk will co-headline this fall’s Vegoose Festival, set for Oct. 27-28 at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium. The fest will also include Queens Of The Stone Age, the Shins, Muse, Cypress Hill, Public Enemy, Ghostface Killah, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Battles, Umphree’s McGee, UNKLE, Gogol Bordello, Blonde Redhead, Thievery Corporation, Ghostland Observatory, and Iggy and the Stooges, who will perform their album Fun House in its entirety. Lil Wayne, Ja Rule arrested in separate gun incidents
Hip-hop artists Lil Wayne and Ja Rule were arrested in New York and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in separate incidents on Monday night (July 23), shortly after Lil Wayne’s concert at the Beacon Theatre. Police found Lil Wayne with a .40-caliber pistol after spotting him and another man smoking marijuana outside a tour bus. Ja Rule was found with a .40-caliber pistol after being stopped for speeding in a luxury sedan. (Billboard)
