David Chase scheduled for witness stand

(FROM AP) ? The Sopranos creator David Chase is scheduled to take the witness stand in court on Tuesday (Dec. 18) in a case involving a former circuit judge who claims he is owed compensation for helping develop the HBO series. Chase will be asked to describe the services provided by Robert Baer, the former judge who testified on Monday that he arranged meetings with police detectives and other experts in 1995 and escorted Chase around mob sites in New Jersey’s Newark, Elizabeth, Atlantic City, and Jersey City during Chase’s development of The Sopranos pilot. Baer told the court he never asked for a contract because he trusted Mr. Chase to fulfill an alleged promise to compensate him if the show ever became a hit. Chase maintains that Baer wasn’t an expert himself, but facilitated meetings with police and prosecutors in New Jersey. (AP via Yahoo!)
