Quincy Jones lets Akon have 'Strawberry Letter 23'

And then there’s the not-so-hot new jack interpretation young R&B crooner Tevin Campbell dropped back in 1992.

Fast forward to 2010. Quincy Jones is prepping Q: Soul Bossa Nostra, his first album in 10 years. He’ll be revisiting many of his cult favorites as well as his pop smashes. Artists like Usher and Mary J. Blige will lend their vocals for the effort. For the set’s first single, Quincy turned to Akon and his nasally but smooth voice to revive “Strawberry Letter 23.” And just like the fruit, this one’s sweet. Give it a listen after the jump.
