Coach Taylor's heading back to prehistoric times?

While I have supreme confidence in Chandler’s acting abilities, I have a sneaking suspicion I’m going to have a bit of a hard time thinking of him as anyone other than Coach Taylor. Which is partly his fault for making his character in Friday Night Lights so darn believable and three-dimensional.

Apparently, the series will follow a futuristic family that time-travels back to the era of the dinosaur. (No word on whether it happens during a routine expedition.) And although I doubt it’ll happen, I have to say I’m hoping for a scene where Chandler confronts an iguanodon who missed practice because it had to stay home to take care of its alcoholic father.

Prior to watching FNL, I remember seeing Chandler in Early Edition, one of those magical-force-compels-a-character-to-do-good-deeds series. (For other examples in this genre, see Quantum Leap, Joan of Arcadia, Tru Calling, etc.) So I guess it’s not too much of a stretch to see him play someone else other than the coach of the Panthers and the Lions. What do you think, PopWatchers? Will you be able to put Coach Taylor out of your mind once Terra Nova makes it to air?
