Piers Morgan named as Larry King's CNN replacement

Piers Morgan will replace Larry King on CNN, the network confirms to EW. That’s right — the guy who almost lost to Trace Adkins on the first season of The Celebrity Apprentice is poised to follow in the footsteps of the great suspender-ed one on the news network. Not that the decision is any surprise — the America’s Got Talent judge has been rumored for months to be filling the vacancy that will be left by King when he retires. (Even if the Larry King Live host was lobbying for “Poker Face” duet partner Ryan Seacrest.)

CNN President Jon Klein told the Associated Press that Morgan will “look at all aspects of the news with style and humor with an occasional good laugh in the process.” Seeing as the British journalist — and former editor of News of the World and Daily Mirror — also puts up with this on a weekly basis, I’m guessing he will indeed be able to handle the likes of Carrie Prejean with a sense of humor.

What say you, PopWatchers? Satisfied with this replacement? How will Morgan look in suspenders? And will he be able to handle news of an ecoli oopbrike better than King?
