Hold onto your hazelnut ice blendeds, Angelenos: The aliens have arrived, and they are not happy. In Battle: Los Angeles, the titular Southern California city becomes mankind’s last stronghold after an extraterrestrial invasion destroys the rest of Earth’s metropolises. Aaron Eckhart stars as a tough Marine Staff Sergeant commanding a platoon that counts Michelle Rodriguez, Ne-Yo, and Lucas Till among its members. The movie was inspired by World War II’s “Battle of Los Angeles,” during which L.A. residents were led to believe they were under attack — though in reality the incident was a false alarm.
