The impending prostitution trial of embattled Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has taken a new curious turn, as Berlusconi’s defense lawyers have officially named George Clooney as a witness. According to the Associated Press, the 17-year-old Moroccan teenager at the center of the trial — whom the 74-year-old Prime Minister is alleged to have paid for sex — claims to have met Clooney and his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis at one of the Prime Minister’s parties. Attorney Piersilvio Cipollotti said that the defense wants “to see if they confirm this fact or not.” In a statement released to EW, Clooney responds: “It seems odd since I’ve only met Berlusconi once and that was in an attempt to get aid into Darfur.”
