'Happy Days' stars sue for millions

Goodbye, gray skies, hello, judge: On April 19, Happy Days stars Anson Williams, Don Most, Marion Ross, Erin Moran, and the estate of Tom Bosley, who passed away last October, filed a lawsuit in L.A. against CBS Studios and Paramount Pictures, claiming breach of contract and fraud by concealment. (Costars Ron Howard and Henry Winkler are not involved in the litigation.) The suit states that the actors were under contract with the studio to receive up to 5 percent of royalties from show merchandise bearing their images — everything from mugs and T-shirts to DVD sets and slot machines. ”Somebody said to me, ‘Boy, you must really be cleaning up,”’ Ross said during a Today show appearance with Most and Williams on April 23. They went on to explain that the studio had never told them they were owed money, adding that while Moran was paid a few hundred dollars, Most and Williams still hadn’t received any compensation. The actors are asking for $10 million in damages in addition to legal fees. In response to the filing, a CBS spokesperson said, ”We agree that funds are owed to the actors and have been working with them for quite some time to resolve the issue.”
