Lady Gaga took a little time to enjoy The View today, serving as a guest co-host on the estrogen-fueled chat-show.

This may make her the first person to weigh in on “hot topics” who also has merchandise for sale at, you know, Hot Topic. Needless to say, the potential deal to raise the debt ceiling wasn’t on the conversation docket, but pop’s reigning queen did bring her own Gagafied version of The View’s trademark Bill Geddie-demanded note cards, color coordinated to match her black-and-white houndstooth—“I don’t have a love life because I spent all night making these cards,” she said.

Though she left before interviews with Danielle Steel and Dana Delany to prepare for her show-capping performance of “Yoü and I”—and who didn’t want to hear Gaga weigh in on the new season of Body of Proof?—she did give her thoughts on Amy Winehouse’s death, her own history of drug abuse, and her relationship with her late, great “Edge of Glory” collaborator, Clarence Clemons.

Check out her thoughts after the break:

Gaga’s reaction to Amy Winehouse’s death:

“I’m so devastated and so sad. I really couldn’t speak for like 48 hours straight. I was in such shock. You know, I think the most unfortunate thing about it all is the way the media spins things. Like, here, we can learn from Amy’s death. I don’t think Amy needed to learn any lessons. I think the lesson was for the world to be kinder to the superstar. Everybody was so hard on her, and everything that I knew about her was that she was the most lovely and kind woman.”

On her own history of drug use:

“I used to do hard drugs. I was so embarrassed. My dad called me out about it one day and so I stopped. I don’t do any hard drugs anymore. I am a part of the green club sometimes. My dad was like ‘I know what you’re doing because I did and I lost every friend who ever meant anything to me.'”

On her relationship with the late Clarence Clemons:

“You know he was really kind of like a father figure. He really was. The very brief time I got to spend with him, and say that we had like six months of really close friendship. He changes your life so quickly. You don’t know why and you can’t explain it but he has this godly presence about him.”

On Tim Gunn’s criticism of Hillary Clinton’s pantsuit couture:

“He’s being a bully. I think Hillary Clinton has more important things to worry about than her hemline. I certainly don’t. I certainly only care about my hemline.”

On being asked to change into more flight-appropriate clothes at airports:

“I do have some stories about airports and things. I was asked to change my clothes. It was a long time ago. They wouldn’t do it now. Now they are all like ‘Will you sign this for me, please.’”

Music Mixers, did you catch Gaga on The View this morning? Did she gloss over the real reasons behind Amy Winehouse’s death? And are you also itching to see her enter a “meatball-off” cooking contest with Joy Behar?
