''Dirty Dancing'' reboot announced, sequel set for ''The Amazing Spider-Man,'' and more

Steve Carell and David Steinberg (Mad About You) will exec-produce Showtime’s Laughing Stock, an interview series featuring ”the world’s funniest personalities.”

Fringe‘s John Noble will host Dark Matters: Twisted but True, a Science channel series debuting Aug. 31 that explores unusual scientific research.

Kenny Ortega (Michael Jackson’s This Is It) will direct a remake of Dirty Dancing for Lionsgate. Ortega choreographed the original 1987 blockbuster.

Nearly 11 months before the release of The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield, Sony has announced that the sequel, also starring Garfield, will hit theaters in May 2014.
