'J. Edgar' opens well

According to early estimates, Warner Brothers’ award season hopeful, J. Edgar, earned $53,000 out of seven theaters on its opening day yesterday.

That gives the Leonardo DiCaprio biopic a fairly good $7,571 per theater average, but the real test will be how the buzzy film plays this weekend. It moves into wide release tomorrow.

The Clint Eastwood-directed film is currently eying an opening in the mid-teens. Will you go see it?
