We’re just a week-and-a-half away from the premiere of John Carter, Disney’s big-budget sword-and-sandals-in-space blockbuster. So far, most of the marketing has focused on Taylor Kitsch’s titular hero, but a new trailer for the film spends a bit more time with the film’s baddie, an evil leader played by Mark Strong. Strong has become Hollywood’s newest go-to Alan Rickman, with bad-guy lead roles in Green Lantern, Sherlock Holmes, and Kick-Ass. Even more intriguingly: The new trailer gives us a quick throwaway look at Dominic West, best known as Jimmy McNulty from The Wire. (Still unclear: Will McNulty’s Sab Than and Strong’s Matai Shang have a scene together where they drink by the space-train tracks and talk about how bureaucracy is ruining Mars?) Watch the trailer:
