Future of '24' movie now in doubt

Worries about the budget and timetable has prompted 20th Century Fox to postpone production on a 24 movie this year. The film that would feature Kiefer Sutherland reprising his beloved Jack Bauer character was set to commence this month, but the actor reportedly balked at his $1 million pay-day, according to Deadline.

Apparently, the studio would like to keep the budget at roughly $30 million, while Sutherland and Producer Brian Grazer were hoping for something north of $45 million.

The film still doesn't have a director. The script from Billy Ray (State of Play) and Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard) is complete.

A year ago this month, Sutherland told the women of The View that the 24 movie would come out this year. Sutherland is currently starring in the new Fox drama Touch but the show was set to go on hiatus next month — which would have given the actor time to start the movie.
