'Step Up Revolution' trailer: Flash mobbers occupy Ocean Drive

Yesterday, we revealed the poster for the upcoming Step Up Revolution (out July 27), and today we have the chest-baring, street-stomping trailer. As a news reporter speaks of a “disturbance” on Miami’s Ocean Drive, ominous figures in tricked-out, old-school cars prepare to unleash a synchronized attack… See the trailer below.

Never fear, it’s just a flash mob! In Revolution, The MOB’s leader Sean (Ryan Guzman) meets aspiring dancer Emily (So You Think You Can Dancer Kathryn McCormick, who dances pretty well “for a gringa”). He woos her with sick dance moves and public displays of coordination, but their blooming courtship hits a bump when a wealthy businessman with mellifluous eyebrows (Peter Gallagher) announces a hotel development that will displace Sean’s family, friends, and neighbors. How will they stop him? Through dance, of course!

With each successive Step Up, the dance sequences have gotten more elaborate, the stakes higher, and Revolution is no exception. The preview is chockablock with the gravity-defying, normal-person-terrifying stunts that we’ve come to expect from the franchise, and Moose (Adam G. Sevani) even makes a cameo — alongside pop-and-lock policemen and undulating statues, of course.

What do you think, (dance) movie fans? Are you excited to see how Step Up‘s fourth installment will top the previous three?
