‘CSI’ STAR ELISABETH HARNOIS ON MORGAN’S BREAK THROUGH, ‘BIG’ FINALE CLIFFHANGERS

Elisabeth Harnois has had more than a few shining moments during her first season as a regular on CSI, and the season finale (airing MMay 9) will likely add another to the list when Morgan and her father “come to an understanding” of sorts. “This episode is a huge breaking open of the box, I guess,” she says. “[The finale] allows her to come to a nice place with her father, and I start to see the man behind the mask of being the tough, cantankerous undersheriff. I start to maybe sympathize with the difficulty of what he does.”

But the sense of resolution could be short-lived, she said, as the case the team works on threatens to put a wedge between them once again. “The progress almost gets blown up and destroyed. So it’s a pretty exciting and unexpected thing that happens with her and her father — and everyone else.”

Most of all Nick Stokes and Greg, who find themselves in a bit of an emotional crisis after taking on a heavily political case. “For Nick, specifically, he’s questioning whether he can do his job any more,” she says. The return of McKeen, who murdered Warrick, makes Nick feel frustrated that he is still “infiltrating their lives,” she says. “He loses it a bit. It’s a huge emotional arc.”

By the end of the hour, viewers will be left wondering whether some “very important people” will return next season, she says. “It’s honestly one of the best finales I’ve ever read in my TV experience.”

‘PRIVATE PRACTICE’: WORRIED ABOUT BABY HENRY?

If the title of Private Practice’s upcoming season finale, “Gone Baby Gone,” has you terrified for Baby Henry, Addison’s new (totally sqeezable!) son, you can rest easy, according to executive producer Shonda Rhimes. “I’m not going to hurt baby Henry,” says the TV mastermind. “I just adopted a baby, too. That would be bad karma!”

Whew. So since we now know Henry’s “not going anywhere,” what can fans expect? Well, after everything the ladies of PP have been through this season (from Charlotte’s emotionally taxing storyline with Cooper and Cooper’s son, to Addison’s baby drama), Rhimes says the finale will be “a really beautiful and lyrical and interesting story.” “I just watched the first director’s cut of that and gave my editors notes on it,” she says. “There’s a lot of pain, but there’s also this sense that you’re watching our characters — the women, Addison, Charlotte, Amelia and Violet — and realizing that they’re all fundamentally changed over the course of this year in a way that’s fairly profound and that’s really beautiful.”

And as expected, the closer won’t let viewers go quietly into hiatus season. “We have two things that leave you hanging at the end of the season and wondering what’s going to happen next. And they’re both fairly big things for our characters.”

‘NIKITA’: Any really exciting#Mikita moments in the last episode? — @DeannaWigney

Great question, Deanna. So great, in fact, that I couldn’t help but make this the focus of one of our larger discussions today because it definitely deserves a little context after last week’s “Wrath,” which had some huge moments for the pair. And when Maggie Q stopped by yesterday to chat, we spoke a bit about how those moments — from their talk about the future to Nikita’s frankness with Michael about their past — will impact their relationship moving forward.

“As a girl … sometimes you go, ‘I’m done being nice. I’m going to tell you the way it actually is and what you put me through,’” she says. “I loved that about the episode and the way Albert [Kim] wrote it because it wasn’t one of those things where he was acting as the prince and she was going ‘Thank you!’ She was pissed! There was no swooning, and I don’t think anyone expected that turn to happen.”

And the last scenes, in which Michael rejected Nikita’s attempts to apologize and told her she had a right to feel the way she did, speaks volumes about where the pair is headed, says the actress. “You’re obviously going to see them joined in a way that’s really nice,” she says. “And we wrap the season up with the two of them [in a scene] that’s, visually, one of the most beautiful things we’ve ever done. … From shot to shot, the finale is the most beautiful episode of the season.”

Any Grey’s finale scoop? — Carly

Well, it goes without saying that it’s a crazy tearjerker with a crazy big cliffhanger (and a death, as I’m sure you’ve heard). And it’s one that even Sarah Drew can’t wait to see a resolution to. “There’s a big thing that happens that changes everything for everyone,” she says. “It’s such a huge cliffhanger that nobody knows what is going to happen to pretty much any of the characters. Everything is left in limbo. I’m at the edge of my seat wanting to read the episode 1 for season 9 so I can know what happens.” And what of April’s I-walk-with-Jesus moment in last night’s episode? Drew reveals that it will allow us to “see all kinds of different colors that we didn’t see before.”

But… begging is half the fun! Well, since we don’t have much time (because the finale is this weekend!) I’ll let your lack of effort pass this one time, and share with you this piece of intel: Remember the elevator scene in the season 2 finale? I hear the season 3 ender, which is directed by co-creator Robert King (husband of fellow co-creator Michelle King), features yet another memorable scene in TV’s go-to location. “The only tease I’ll say is that I’m constantly amazed at how much love the Kings can have for elevators,” laughs Josh Charles, who plays Will. “I’ll leave it at that.” But I won’t: It’s REALLY good! Is there any hope for The Office to get back on track? This season has been so inconsistent. — Alan

Well, the show has yet to be officially picked up for another season, but executive producer Ben Silverman is already looking ahead to some exciting possibilities. At the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Mansome, Silverman said another season could see “a couple of other people joining our lineup.” “I think what we’ve done on The Office is find original voices and incredible talented groups of people who have made the show so great. Really at the core of it, though, they’re funny,” he said. “We always are looking for the funniest talent, and in the case of the show I think we’re looking for the best athletes of comedy.” And, he adds, they wouldn’t necessarily be looking for a big name. (This season saw the addition of Catherine Tate and James Spader.) “I think TV is the best star-maker, so I hope we can have the same success that we did with finding characters like Brian Baumgartner, who plays Kevin, and some of the other characters on the periphery who have now set center stage and are now really driving the show.”

I’m usually more of a Wade girl, so I was surprised by how much I liked this week’s Hart of Dixie with all the George and Zoe action. Then they had to go and walk away from it all?!? I guess it was more realistic that way but I’m curious what’s next for them now that they’ve had that moment. Any scoop to share? — Lucy

This week’s episode WAS great, but it seems George and Zoe’s (Rachel Bilson) response to all that transpired will be a logical one. Scott Porter elaborates: “Even as immaturely as they act sometimes with people in their life, they are two very mature people,” he says. “They do have to take a step back and say, ‘We could live in this fantasy. But real life is going to be here tomorrow. We have to deal with it, and we have to put this on pause, and if it’s forever, it’s forever.’” Sad? Definitely. But, he explains, “They had this moment, but they have to move forward. They have to deal with the problems in front of them. That’s a testament to who those two are as people.” What classy people… which is why I also tend to be a Wade girl. (What can I say, I appreciate his swagger…)

You know Emily’s big realization at the end of this week’s episode? Well, according to Connor Paolo, who I chatted with earlier this week, these truths will lead our master planner to “make certain decisions about what she needs to do and how exactly she needs to do it.” Also happening? We’ll soon meet “certain members of Nolan’s past” and Declan is going to make some new, interesting friends at school “which may or may not lead to some new relationships,” he teases.

Sandra, Scandal is soooooooo good! I’m want to know more about the flashback episode! — Renee

I’ll have some special guests give you some really good dish soon! In the meantime, however, I can tell you two things you won’t be seeing: Olivia and Finch’s first meeting and Finch’s life with his fiancee. For now, at least. “Maybe episode 9,” jokes Henry Ian Cusick. (The show’s first season consists of seven episodes.) But one thing you definitely will be seeing? “Blood,” he says.

The baby bombshell in last night’s episode definitely puts some emotional punch back into the story. In the next episode, it takes a few twists and turns, with Rex’s babymomma revealing she wants to give the baby up for adoption, leading Hannah to make a bold move that may or may not work out in her favor.

Who will be new showrunner of Gossip Girl? — @Havein

Well, to first recap for the entire class: In case you missed the Twitter-plosion earlier this week, Gossip master Josh Safran is leaving the Upper East Side and headed to the theater district. And while his migration to Smash will leave a void at Gossip Girl, where Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz are also executive producers, word is that Gossip Girl has yet to be picked for another season, thus making any talk of replacements premature. In the meantime, should GG be taking out a want-ad soon, is there someone you’d like to see take the helm? (Besides me, of course — but I’m flattered by the suggestion. #delusional)

How about a good How I Met Your Mother scoop? — Mike

Well, these photos from the finale sure helped curb my sadness during the off-week. But if you’re looking for a bit more, when asked to elaborate on the “irrevocable change” occurring in the finale, executive producer Carter Bays says that while it’s “still being decided if next year is our last year or there’s another year beyond that or another beyond that,” the events of the finale definitely “resolves some things and sets the path for where the rest of the series is going to take us.”

Parks scoop, please! Last week’s episode had me literally laughing out loud! — Amanda

Then next week’s will have you laughing out louder. (That’s totally a thing.) Let me just say this: The Community gang might have put their crime-solving skills to work in this week’s episode, but when Eagle 1 (aka Andy) is on the case of an attempted pie-ssassination, heads will roll — and laughs will be had! Also, it may bring about the return of a familiar face.

In Plain Sight series finale is coming up. What can you tell me about the closer? Any great Marshall/Mary moments to speak of? — Brianna

Great? I’d say the GREATEST. But that said, I’d think long and hard about what you’re hoping for these two characters before sitting down to watch, because my hunch is that things will certainly pan out in an unexpected but totally satisfying way.
