Mick Jagger is hosting SNL‘s season finale this weekend — but he won’t be joined by bandmate Keith Richards. Richards recently told Rolling Stone magazine that Jagger will be “on his own” this Saturday. “I spoke to Mick and he said it’s something that he said yes to many months ago, so he’s just doing it [alone],” Richards said.

Though Richards’ rep has not yet responded to EW’s request for comment, this is sad news. If Richards did appear at Studio 8H, the Stones would be performing live together for the first time in nearly five years.

Still, Stones fans may have something to celebrate come May 19. Since Jagger’s hosting gig coincides with the band’s 50th anniversary, it’s possible that the strutting frontman will take this opportunity to announce an upcoming Stones anniversary tour. And who knows… SNL and Richards can both be unpredictable. Would it surprise anyone if he showed up after all?
