Telluride Film Festival line-up

The 39th Telluride Film Festival announced the lineup of its main program today, featuring a mix of premieres and previous festival favorites. The 25 films include Hyde Park on Hudson, starring Bill Murray as President Franklin D. Roosevelt (directed by Roger Michell); At Any Price, starring Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron as father and son farmers (directed by Ramin Bahrani); Frances Ha, starring Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the screenplay with director Noah Baumbach; Love, Marilyn, a documentary featuring a roster of actresses reading notes, letters, and poems penned by Marilyn Monroe (directed by Liz Garbus); and the Cannes Palme d’Or winner Amour (directed by Michael Haneke).

The festival will also bestow its Silver Medallion Awards to three artists: Famed ultra-low-budget genre filmmaker Roger Corman; actress Marion Cotillard, whose film Rust & Bone, about a woman dealing with losing her legs, will also screen at the festival; and actor Mads Mikkelsen, who has two films at Telluride, The Hunt (for which he won Best Actor at Cannes) and A Royal Affair.

Unlike pretty much every other major film festival, the Telluride Film Festival — tucked into the western Colorado ski town — always waits to announce its lineup until the day before the festival begins. It starts Friday, Aug. 31 and runs through Monday, Sept. 3. Click here for the full lineup.
