Zooey Deschanel's Ford ad beats 'Happy Endings'

New Girl Ratings

ABC’s comedies Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B—- returned Tuesday night, diving into the sitcom sigalert at 9 p.m.

In one hour, you had the two ABC shows, plus NBC’s Go On and New Normal, and Fox’s New Girl (with the network airing its rain-delayed X-Factor at 9:30 p.m.).

Which comedy came out on top? A steady Ms. Z with New Girl at 5.2 million viewers and a 2.7 in the adult demo. That’s good news for Fox — and Ford, which had a heavy product integration in the episode, where Jess fills in for CeCe at a car show. Go On (6.4 million, 2.5) was a close runner up. Then came the rest, all around the same demo number: Happy Endings (5.9 million, 1.9), down 39 percent from last fall’s premiere, New Normal (4.5 million, 1.8) and Don’t Trust the B— (4.3 million, 1.7).

Also Tuesday, some new dramas aren’t fairing so hot. CBS’ Vegas (10.7 million, 1.5) just got a full season, but it’s down 25 percent from two weeks ago with a rating that would have gotten this show yanked by this network a couple years ago. And The CW’s Emily Owens M.D. (1.1 million, 0.3) dropped 40 percent.

Overall: NBC out in front, also airing The Voice (10.9 million, 4.1) and Parenthood (4.8 million, 1.9). CBS was second, also airing NCIS (17.3 million, 3.2) and NCIS: LA (16.3 million, 2.7). Fox also had Raising Hope (4.1 million, 1.7) and Ben and Kate (3 million, 1.4). ABC also had Dancing (12.7 million, 2.2) and Private Practice (4.6 million, 1.4). CW also had Hart of Dixie (1.3 million, 0.5).
