Noted photographer Nigel Barker has vacated his seat as a judge on Tyra Bank’s America’s Next Top Model, but he’ll take a walk down memory lane when he hosts a marathon of the show’s All Star season on Oxygen tomorrow. And soon, he’ll be back as a star of the new modeling competition The Face, alongside Bank’s former runway rival Naomi Campbell and models Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova.

What sets The Face apart from Top Model? Barker gave EW the scoop.

“Having worked on Top Model for so long I had a great time on that show, but the concept behind it was really to find much more the diamonds in the rough. It was more a caricature of the industry to some extent,” Barker says. “We all know the fun and games and shenanigans that go on with Top Model.”

“On The Face, you get a real insider look at the business from the eyes of supermodels, and that’s a viewpoint that we’ve never seen,” says Barker, who tells us that the competition heats up as much between the model coaches as it does between the contestants (though he swears no cell phones have flown… yet). “On The Face, there’s a lot of passion, in fact I would say more passion [than Top Model], mostly because we’re dealing with three current supermodels working in the business, each one vested in a handpicked team, to help one girl win the competition and become the face of beauty brand [Ulta]. We have real jobs and real clients, like designer Zac Posen.”

The Face is set to premiere in February 2013, but we’ve got a first look at the promo that will run during Oxygen’s Top Model marathon, airing tomorrow from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM ET/PT.

Judging by some of the expressions Naomi Campbell’s face in the video clip below, we’re betting there won’t be a lot of smizing.
