This was the year that ... I won a Tony

Christan Borle reflects back on his Emmy winning year

It’s funny. Winning a Tony for my role in Peter and the Starcatcher is one of those things that?even with some time passing — doesn’t get any less surreal or dreamlike. In high school, I remember the first time that I watched the Tony Awards, I saw the Will Rogers Follies number with the tambourine hats. Even at that age, I had the bug. I was so happy with Peter, especially after it took us three years to get it to Broadway, so I was able to enjoy my win while it was happening. I will forevermore be referred to as a Tony award winner — it’s a thrill. And the award is shiny and spins. It’s got a good heft to it. It’s a dream come true. —Christian Borle

Borle stars on NBC’s Smash, which returns on Feb. 5.
