'Smash' stars Megan Hilty, Jennifer Hudson and Katharine McPhee's vampy nail polish

Smash stars Megan Hilty, Jennifer Hudson and Katharine McPhee brought Broadway glamour to the cover shoot for this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly (click here to buy the issue).

To complement the metallic dresses and Sophia Loren-inspired makeup, manicurist Ana Maria Gheorghiu used a glossy black polish to vamp up the ladies’ nails.

“It can complement pretty much any outfit — day or night — and it goes well with any skin tone,” Gheorghiu told EW of the shade — Orly’s Liquid Vinyl. “The actresses were happy because they could wear it even after the photo shoot wrapped.”

Though Gheorghiu says that most of the celebrities she works with tend to opt for nude nail polish, “you can do a lot with black shades nail color. My favorite is an application of gold nail foil over black, or you can use black as base and paint the ‘moon’ white with a nail art brush.”
