What a week for Britney Spears. On Jan. 11, just days after news broke that she would not be returning to the judges’ table on The X Factor (a gig that reportedly netted her $15 million), the singer, 31, announced that she was splitting with fiancé (and former co-conservator) Jason Trawick. ”I’ll always adore him and we will remain great friends,” she said in a statement. But don’t expect Spears to sit home and mope. She’s hard at work on her eighth studio album (with the help of producers like Max Martin and Hit-Boy), her current will.i.am-assisted single ”Scream & Shout” has broken into the top 10, and she is reportedly in talks to begin a Vegas residency that could earn her even more than Celine Dion’s $100 million paycheck — which would certainly make it easier to walk away from The X Factor. ”She’s being heavily courted by at least one major casino,” says a source close to Spears. ”And there’s a lot of love out there for her in Vegas.” With Trawick out of the picture, that must be music to her ears.
