'Olympus Has Fallen' trailer: Gerard Butler is their only hope

In the just-released trailer for Antoine Fuqua’s latest project Olympus Has Fallen, things go from bad to worse for the President (played by Aaron Eckhart) and the country. First his Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) gets into an accident which presumably kills the First Lady (Ashley Judd). Later, terrorists attack D.C. from the air and the ground to overtake the White House.

And then…well…you should probably watch the trailer after the jump. It’s pretty spoiler heavy. But essentially, it’s up to ex-Special Forces Officer Banning (“the same guy who was removed from the President’s detail”) to save the day.

Fuqua has served audiences well in the past with Training Day and The Replacement Killers, but the Gerard Butler-factor is hard to get past – especially when there’s a drinking game just waiting to be played whenever Butler’s character utters any Secret Service-speak (i.e. “Mustang, this is Big Top, bringing out the full package.”) But, we’re open to being persuaded.

Olympus Has Fallen hits theaters on March 22.
