The sole unmarried member of the Backstreet Boys has announced he’s found “The One” and intends to put a ring on an actual Mrs. Nick Carter, officially killing the secret lingering hopes and dreams of everyone’s inner ’90s teenybopper.

Earlier today, Carter tweeted a message that hinted at his engagement to his girlfriend of four years, fitness expert/actress Lauren Kitt, which People later confirmed.

The couple is said to be searching for a wedding date that works with the band’s busy schedule, which includes a 20th anniversary cruise. Yes, 20th anniversary — perhaps hope’s been gone longer than we thought, like the floppy hair look.
