Oscar-nominated AIDS Documentary to Get miniseries treatment

''How to Survive a Plague'' coming to TV

The feature documentary How to Survive a Plague, about grassroots AIDS activists in the 1980s and ’90s, lost out to Searching for Sugar Man at the Oscars. But it may end up getting a new dramatic life on TV: On Feb. 28, ABC announced that it had optioned Plague for a scripted miniseries. The film’s director, David France, tells EW, ”It will be a tight ensemble — a handful of people with almost nothing in common but their shared battle against the epidemic.” There’s no timeline for the production yet, but if you missed Plague in theaters, it’s now out on DVD and streaming on Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and iTunes.
