David O. Russell: New Jennifer Lawrence film sets December 2013 date

Three-time Oscar nominee David O. Russell will release his next film just in time for 2014 awards consideration, EW has confirmed with Atlas Entertainment. The currently untitled project will open in limited release Dec. 13 before going wide Christmas Day.

Formerly known as American Bulls—, the film tells the story of an FBI operation called Abscam that investigated Capitol Hill lawmakers and their possible role in illegal money exchanges in the late ’70s and early ’80s. The project — including Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Louis C.K. — reteams Russell with Lawrence and Cooper, who starred in last year’s Academy Award-winning hit Silver Linings Playbook. He also previously worked with Bale and Adams on 2010’s The Fighter, another Oscar contender.

Annapurna Pictures and Atlas Entertainment produced and financed the picture.
