Cyndi Lauper's 'Kinky Boots' photos

It's time to put on your dancing shoes — Kinky Boots is coming to Broadway.

Based on the 2005 movie of the same name, the new musical, with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, tells the based-on-a-true-story tale of Charlie (Tony-nominee Stark Sands), who inherits his father's failing shoe store. When Charlie meets Lola (Billy Porter) an entertainer in need of some stilettos, he discovers that the unlikely pair may just be able to help each other out — and revitalize the business.

Tony-winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde) directs and choreographs the show, which debuted in Chicago last fall. Check out more exclusive photos from the production — featuring Sands and Porter, as well as co-star Annaleigh Ashford (Hair, Legally Blonde), below.

Kinky Boots is currently in previews and officially opens April 4.
