'Girls,' 'Walking Dead,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Bones': EW's TV Jukebox

This week's Jukebox was full of betrayal and rekindled romance — sometimes in the same breath.

There was also a vampire feeding frenzy, a torture chamber, and a smooth-guitar retooling of a '90s R&B classic. PRETTY LITTLE LIARS (ABC Family)

The song: Lana Del Rey, "Ride"

The episode: "A Dangerous GAme" (324)

The hook: While Aria (Lucy Hale) closed the door on her happy ending with Ezra (Ian Harding) to Measure's "Begin Again," Del Rey's sultry heartbreaker underscored a bittersweet reunion between Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and her betrayer/boyfriend Toby (Keegan Allen) on Tuesday's season finale. Teen angst in Rosewood? You don't sAy… (Bonus: Ashley Benson's Hanna turned on 29th Chapter's dance party-ready "Invincible" to keep 'A' from hearing the Liars' latest scheming session.)

BONES (Fox)

The song: Sara Jackson-Holman, "Freight Train"

The episode: "The Doom in the Gloom" (819)

The hook: The Portland warbler's delicate piano tune took away some of death's sting Monday when Bones' Victim of the Week left behind a letter declaring her devotion to an estranged friend. As the friend read the letter through tears, Jackson-Holman sang, "Grief is a freight train. Oh, what's a little pain when you've got so much to love?"

GREY'S ANATOMY (ABC)*

The song: Laura Welsh, "Hollow Drum"

The episode: "Idle Hands" (921)

The hook: Since Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) lost her leg, she has steadily built a seemingly insurmountable wall between herself and Callie (Sara Ramirez). Welsh's lyrics ("The way you look at me at any opportunity until I come undone") echoed Arizona's insecurities last night as Callie insisting on examining Arizona's aching leg. Ironically, it was the very vulnerability Arizona feared that ultimately reconnected the wives in a long-overdue, poignantly jokey moment.

GIRLS (HBO)

The song: Tame Impala, "Elephant"

The episode: "Together" (210)

The hook: The show may be called Girls, but boys ran the world on Sunday's season finale. Perth psychedelic sextet Tame Impala's distorted stomper even gave sadsack thirtysomething Ray (Alex Karpovsky) some juice as he strutted into Café Grumpy to quit his job in search of better prospects. Ray didn't ultimately get everything he wanted (RIP Rayshanna!), but he did get a promotion.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES (The CW)*

The song: Talking Heads, "Psycho Killer"

The episode: "Because the Night" (417)

The hook: An innocent young couple. A bloodthirsty 113-year-old vampire. The twain met in the streets of the Big Apple as TVD's Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) got his drank on to David Byrne's ode to a serial killer. Last night's flashback ep, which cut between modern-day New York and Alphabet City in the '70s played out over plenty of punk rock classics — including a seduction scene to The Ramones' "Let's Dance" — but none was more deliciously hedonistic than Byrne's 1974 composition. It was a moment every bit as sassy as Elena's (Nina Dobrev) new, scarlet-streaked hairdo.

THE WALKING DEAD (AMC)

The song: Voxhaul Broadcast, "You Are the Wilderness"

The episode: "Prey" (314)

The hook: Sunday's Dead closed on a long, chilling zoom shot into the torture chamber of the Governor (David Morrissey), where is now keeping Andrea (Laurie Holden) bound and gagged. As the camera prowled ever closer, Voxhaul's David Dennis's yowl conveyed the terror in Andrea's heart that her covered mouth couldn't speak but her eyes betrayed.

SUBURGATORY (ABC)*

The song: "Bump N' Grind," originally by R. Kelly

The episode: "Eat, Pray, Eat" (217)

The hook: Imagine if Joe Cocker and John Mayer had a baby — and that baby performed Kells' 1994 babymakin' jam to his lady. Oh wait, you don't have to imagine it because that's pretty much what happened on Wednesday's Suburgatory. Though an earlier mariachi number by Noah (Alan Tudyk) was a no-go, George's (Jeremy Sisto) soulful serenade to Dallas (Cheryl Hines) was an indisputable ohhhhhhhh yeahhhhhh. Who knew George had those pipes?

NEW GIRL (Fox)

The song: The Cars, "You Might Think"

The episode: "Quick Hardening Caulk" (219)

The hook: When you're drowning your sorrows in Midori — as a lovelorn Schmidt (Max Greenfield) did on Tuesday — could you ask for better ambient noise than Ric Ocasek's '84 obsessive-love anthem? The New Wave bouncer pulled double duty when the scene's focus shifted and Ocasek crooned, "You might think I'm crazy, but all I want is you," just as Jess (Zooey Deschanel) realized she was falling hard for her grumpy, schlumpy roommate Nick (Jake Johnson).
