This April, we decided our readers deserved a good laugh. So we interviewed five comedians with upcoming projects. Get to know them as they answer our April Questionnaire. Then check out more of their comedy online.

Get to know Scott Aukerman:

You might know Scott from his podcast empire, the video podcast network, or from season 1 of Comedy Bang! Bang! on IFC (now available on Netflix streaming). CBB returns this summer and Scott has an idea for how you can get ready in the mean time.

On what it would be like to watch the binge-watch first season of Comedy Bang! Bang! on Netflix: I think binge-watching would last about four hours which, you know, is longer than The Godfather or The Godfather 2. So that means it’s better. I’ve heard that watching all of those shows in that little amount of time is a lot like taking some sort of hallucinogenic of some sort, because the show is pretty crazy and a lot of really strange things happen on it. I hear people come out the other side changed into different people. Mostly changed in the sense that they’re four hours older. But yeah I think if people sat down and watched all of it at one time just the basics they would get to see incredible guest stars like Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm and Zack Galifianakis and then some of the weirder and weirdest comedy pieces that they’ll probably see on Netflix.

Teases for season 2 of Comedy Bang Bang on IFC: We built a spaceship, for one. I didn’t know if we were gonna be able to do that. You know when you write something in a script and it just says ”Interior. Spaceship” you don’t really wonder how is that gonna happen you just kind of imagine it. Then you get to the set one day and there’s a huge spaceship. So that’s just one hint of something that we’re doing. Massive special effects, we’re taking cues from J.J. Abrams and putting in a lot of lens flare. So yeah I think just lens flare. That’s the main upgrade from season 1 to season 2 is just there’s constantly gonna be flashlights shining into the camera.

On how people can get pumped for season 2 (this summer): I think to get pumped for it, I mean, I would literally just pump iron, continuously until it comes back on the air. I know your muscles would get tired but at a certain point, you know, they’re gonna build from there. So, you know, everyone has to sleep so sleep for maybe one hour a night, 45 minutes. And just, you know, constantly lift weights until the show comes back on. I think you’ll be in a really good place once it comes back on where you’ll no longer be skinny little comedy nerds and you’ll no longer have to watch comedy. And you’ll probably just forget about the show. And you’ll go out and get girlfriends and boyfriends. And you know your life will be better.

April Fools’ Questionnaire:

What’s the best April Fool’s prank you’ve ever pulled on someone? I guess when I was a kid I wasn’t the type of person playing a lot of pranks. I was the type of person upon whom pranks were pulled. I did one year get a really good idea that I would set my alarm clock for the middle of the night and I would sneak into my brother’s room and change the time on his clock to being three hours later. So if he had to wake up for school at seven, he would be waking up at 4 a.m. and then go take a shower and get ready for school. What I didn’t think about when thinking about that prank is that means that I have to get up in the middle of the night. And so it’s mainly just inconveniencing me. And then I slept through my own alarm. And I ended up waking up in a panic about 20 minutes ahead of when my brother’s alarm would go off . So I went to his room to mess with his clock somehow and he immediately woke up and asked what I was doing and threw a pillow at me. Yeah that’s the greatest prank that I ever pulled I think.

4/20 is in April, what’s your favorite Doug Benson memory? Stoner Doug Benson? I mean being sincere, the first time I ever met him is one of my favorite Doug Benson memories. I’d only done comedy a couple of times and he had seen me do it and really liked what I did. So I went to go see a very early Mr. Show taping, I think for the first episode, and he called me over and asked me to stand with him in the VIP line. And I said ”Oh, you know, I don’t think I should stand in the VIP line. I’m nobody.’’ And he went ‘’Well you’re a comedian, aren’t you?” And it was the first time that I felt like a comedian.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Uma Thurman’s birthdays are in April. Who do you think would win in a fight, Buffy or The Bride from Kill Bill? Well I think Uma Thurman if she were to get out those super long thumbs that she wore in … whatever hitchhiker movie she had those big long thumbs in. I think if she trotted those out, I mean there’s two theories, one she could jam them in places on Sarah Michelle Gellar that would really hurt her. But then the other theory is that she would accidentally cut them off with her big long bride sword. But still I think just due to height I would give it to Uma, because I think it would be difficult for Sarah Michelle Gellar to reach up to Uma’s incredibly tall jaw.
