PopWatch Planner: 42, the ACMs, Paramore

The weather is warming up, the brown things are turning green, and it’s time to watch some baseball. Or, if stadiums aren’t your thing, watch some baseball in a dark theater on a giant screen. Advance word on the Jackie Robinson flick 42 is quiet, though the First Family loves it.

The buzz on 42 — plus other things the White House has yet to approve for your week — below.

SUNDAY

Academy of Country Music Awards, 8 p.m., CBS,

The night’s emphasis is as much on ethos as awards. With Vegas as the setting this year and Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton as co-hosts, the ACM Awards — like with Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood at the CMAs — will continue a tradition of good times with good music. My pick for the actual winners? Taylor Swift, with her guitar, for Entertainer of the Year.

MONDAY

The Voice, 8 p.m., NBC

OR Being Human season finale, 9 p.m., SyFy

The Voice keeps rolling along as it enters the final week of blind auditions. If you haven’t been watching, you should. The celebs (all four!) make preening seem the soul of good judging. And would you really want to miss out on the cultural rebirth of Shakira?

If harmony isn’t your thing, you can sit down with the third season finale of SyFy’s goofily gothic (and perpetually heartsick) Being Human, in which at least one ghost gets pushed down the stairs.

TUESDAY

Paramore’s Paramore album hits stores

If you remember Paramore, you remember its members as late-generation scions of high-energy pop-rock, streaked with eyeliner. That probably also means you haven’t tuned into the band’s last album, or their latest self-titled release.

WEDNESDAY

Nashville, 10 p.m., ABC

If you’re still buzzing off last week’s totally share-able “Ho Hey” cover, you might be disheartened to hear that this week’s “My Heart Would Know” promises more romantic moments than musical ones. But come on: This is Nashville and the better the drama, the better the songs.

THURSDAY

Hannibal, 10 p.m., NBC

NBC’s thriller about crazy investigators and crazier killers continues. Miss the premiere? Then you should absolutely watch week 2, entitled “Amuse-Bouche,” which will almost definitely involve men doing violent things to women, so that you can join any number of conversations (Is it too violent? Too arty-metaphysical? Too slow?) about it afterward.

FRIDAY

42 opens in theaters

There are two new movies in wide release this week, though it’s hardly a contest between them: Skip Scary Movie 5 (and catch-up with its best moments on some Internet buzzy list a day later) and see the Jackie Robinson biopic, starring Chadwick Boseman, 42 instead.

SATURDAY

The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer

Sure, you could start prepping your vacation reading list (has anyone talked to you about Divergent yet?), or you could settle into something meaty. For the latter, try Meg Wolitzer’s The Interestings, out earlier this week, which follows an artsy group of friends through the years. As EW’s Melissa Maerz wrote, “the very human moments in her work hit you harder than the big ideas.”

SUNDAY

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion, Part 2, 8 p.m., Bravo

It’s been quite a season of Housewives, with two new cast members and the near-incestuous Atlanta social scene — and we’re not even talking about the off-screen divorces. All of which makes the three-part, three-week reunion special all the more necessary to untangle how who feels about what was said, when. And did we mention Kenya’s fan?
