• Since his Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for Silver Linings Playbook, Robert De Niro has been on a bit of a career upswing. He’s set to star in Syriana-director Stephen Gaghan’s Candy Store about an undercover agent-turned-Brooklyn cop and the seedy underworld that he and his partners uncover. Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) and Omar Sy (The Intouchables) also star. De Niro is currently filming David O. Russell’s American Hustle. [Variety]

• Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order) will jump in to voice the villain in Despicable Me 2. Al Pacino had been cast in the role and had already voiced a number of scenes, but dropped out very recently due to creative differences. Bratt is no stranger to animated work and can be heard in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 as well. Despicable Me 2 is scheduled for a July 3 release, and features the voice talents of Kristen Wiig, Steve Carell, Russell Brand, and Steve Coogan. [Deadline]

• It was only a matter of time before Michael Caine joined Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, right? The man has been in every Nolan movie since Batman Begins. It would have been stranger for Nolan to make a Caine-less movie. Sadly, we can only speculate on the nature of his role since Nolan and company keep secrets quite well and instead choose to tease us with casting notices and vague references to time travel and the theories of Kip S. Thorne. [Deadline]

• Bella Thorne (Big Love) has been cast in the Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler comedy Blended, about a blind date gone complicated. Essentially Sandler and Barrymore end up stuck at a resort with each other and their kids from previous marriages. The 15-year-old actress will be playing Sandler’s daughter. [Deadline]

• Jordana Brewster (Dallas) is set to seduce and blackmail Patrick Wilson (Young Adult) in North of Hell. This actually might not be the worst of his problems considering the fact that Wilson’s wife, played by Katherine Heigl, is described as “sociopathic, bi-polar, and obsessive compulsive.” In addition to her work on Dallas, Brewster can be seen reprising her role as Mia in Fast & Furious 6, in theaters May 24. [Deadline]

• A few actors were added to the cast of Endless Love, including True Blood’s Robert Patrick, who will play Alex Pettyfer’s (Magic Mike) father, andDayo Okeniyi, who played Thresh in The Hunger Games. [Deadline, THR]

• Kristin Connolly (House of Cards) and Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace) will join Joan Allen (The Bourne Ultimatum) in a film adaptation of Stephen King’s Good Marriage. King’s 2010 novella tells the story of a woman who discovers her husband is a serial killer. [Deadline]
