Vince Vaughn, Laurence Fishburne, Dominic Cooper, more casting news

• It’s a Frat Pack reunion: Vince Vaughn is set to join Old School co-star Will Ferrell in the Paramount comedy Daddy’s Home. Ferrell is expected to star in the movie, which he’s producing with frequent collaborator Adam McKay (Anchorman, The Other Guys). Etan Cohen (yes, Etan, not Oscar-winning dark comedy filmmaker Ethan Cohen) will make his feature directorial debut with the project. Cohen’s screenwriting credits include Tropic Thunder and Men in Black 3. Ferrell will play a mild-mannered radio exec whose life gets turned upside down when his wife’s freeloading ex-husband (Vaughn) re-enters the picture and he must vie for his step-children’s affections. • Dominic Cooper is in talks for a part in Universal’s Dracula, which stars Luke Evans (The Three Musketeers, Fast and Furious 6) as the titular vampire. The film draws from both Bram Stoker’s Dracula and from the history of Vlad III of Wallachia, the 13th century prince who served as the inspiration for the world’s most famous vampire. Cooper’s reps confirm for EW that the actor has received an offer to appear in the film but won’t reveal which part he would play. Van Helsing, perhaps? [Variety]

• Michael Bay has brought another past collaborator aboard his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Transformers alum Megan Fox joined the project earlier this year, and now William Fichtner (The Dark Knight) is also set for TMNT. Fichtner previously appeared Bay’s Armageddon and Pearl Harbor. Fichtner’s role has not yet been revealed, but he’s reportedly playing a character with “iconic stature” in TMNT mythology. [Deadline]

• Now that Fringe is over, it looks like John Noble is going for something completely different. The Australian actor is well-known in the geek world for sci-fi Fox series Fringe, which aired its series finale in January, and for playing Denethor in The Lord of the Rings. His newest project is The Mule, an Australian dark comedy with fellow Lord of the Rings actor Hugo Weaving already signed on. THR describes Noble’s role as “a natural-born criminal who owns a local hotspot that is a cover for gambling and drug distribution.” [THR]

• Matrix star Laurence Fishburne has joined indie sci-fi thriller The Signal, about three college freshmen who become the targets of a rival computer hacker and are lured into an abandoned shack in the middle of the desert. The film is the sophomore directorial endeavor of William Eubank, the cinematographer-turned-director whose first project at the helm was 2011’s Love, a sci-fi drama produced and scored by Angels & Airwaves. Already signed onto The Signal, which starts shooting in New Mexico next week, are Sarah Clarke (Twilight), Beau Knapp (Super 8), and Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel). [Variety]
