* Doctor Who alum Karen Gillan is bound for more space adventures in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, but this time not as a sidekick for the good guys. The Scottish actress will play a villain in the comic book-based movie — no more details have been revealed about her character. Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) and Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) will also play villains. Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty) is set to play the lead, Star Lord. Prepping for a late June production start, Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled for an Aug. 1, 2014 release date. [THR]

* The Expendables are expanding their ranks. Lionsgate is working on casting for the third film in the franchise that rallies together BAOM (badass old men — totally a real acronym that we might have just made up). Jackie Chan (Rush Hour), Nicolas Cage (National Treasure), Wesley Snipes (Blade), and Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) are in "advanced negotiations" to appear in The Expendables 3, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer announced this morning. [Deadline]

* Manny Montana, a regular on upcoming USA Network show Graceland, has signed onto Michael Mann (Public Enemies) movie Cyber. Details on the film's plot and Montana's role are slim, but it is known that Cyber follows a Balkan hacker operating out of south Asia with an American and Chinese task force on his tail, and Montana will play Lozano, a wanted criminal. On board to star are Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Viola Davis (The Help). [The Wrap]

* Indie psychological thriller Return to Sender is rounding out its cast. Rumer Willis (Hostage), Camryn Manheim (Ghost Whisperer), and Illeana Douglas (Cape Fear) have signed onto the film. Manheim and Willis will play co-workers of Rosamund Pike's (An Education) character, a small-town nurse whose life changes after a blind date with a man (Jericho's Shiloh Fernandez) who turns out to not be all he seems. Nick Nolte (Warrior) plays Pike's father. [THR]
