Adam Sandler (Just Go With It) is set to star in Hello Ghost, a remake of a Korean comedy directed by Chris Columbus in which a man attempts to kill himself, but instead of dying is visited by four ghosts who refuse to leave him in peace until he grants each of them a wish. [Hollywood Reporter]

• Speaking of ghosts, The Bureau of Otherworldly Operations (B.O.O.) has a new agent — Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) has signed on to voice Watts, an offbeat agent in DreamWorks Animation’s tale of a secret government organization that keeps us all safe from ghosts. McCarthy’s partner in B.O.O. is Jackson Moss, voiced by Seth Rogen (This Is The End). The story is an original idea by co-writer and director Anthony Leonidas, who directed the 2008 animated flick Igor. [Hollywood Reporter]

• Although we had to say goodbye to Laura Dern‘s HBO comedy Enlightened, by no means are we saying goodbye to Dern herself. She is set to star in Strings, as a woman struggling to recover from the death of her oldest son. The indie drama co-stars Maria Bello, Lucas Till, Tom Everett Scott and Josh Duhamel. [Deadline]

Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) is slated to play Armie Hammer‘s old role in Cut Bank, as a former athlete who becomes a mechanic and dreams of escaping his hometown of Cut Bank, the coldest town in America. The film, which came from a 2009 Black List script from Sons of Anarchy‘s Roberto Patino costars John Malkovich, Billy Bob Thornton, Teresa Palmer and Oliver Platt. [Deadline]

Emily VanCamp (Revenge) and Michael Nyqvist (Europa Report) will play a literary agent and an author in writer Marya Cohn‘s directorial debut The Girl in the Book. The story revolves around VanCamp’s character, who finds herself confronting her past and fighting her personal demons as she works on the re-release of a novel written by one of her father’s former clients.
