Before Futurama heads off into the wild green yonder of the afterlife, it will work Seth MacFarlane like a dog.

Well, sort of. In a brief cameo for the animated comedy’s final season, the Family Guy creator will provide the voice of Fry’s tragically loyal canine, Seymour, who was featured in a 2002 episode. “This will be Seymour’s first and only spoken dialogue,” Futurama executive producer David X. Cohen tells EW. “Since Seth voices Family Guy‘s talking dog, Brian, we thought it would be funny to have him blatantly rip himself off for our benefit. As an added bonus, the only person he can sue is himself, so we’re off the hook.” (Check out the image above.) In the episode, which airs Aug. 14, the Planet Express crew journeys into Fry’s dreams to pull off a mission in the year 1999. Sarah Silverman also pops up in her old role as Michelle, Fry’s girlfriend from the 20th century.

This isn’t MacFarlane’s first contribution to Futurama; he sang the theme song for the show’s 2009 DVD movie Into the Wild Green Yonder.

The season 7 premiere airs tonight at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central. The final 13 episodes include such celebrity guests as Emilia Clarke, Larry Bird, George Takei, Adam West, Dan Castellaneta, and Burt Ward.
