'Delivery Man' trailer: A thinking man's Vince Vaughn?

Vince Vaughn has yet another infantile comedy on the celluloid horizon — but “infantile” in this sense means something slightly different than his Old School and Dodgeball characters. Delivery Man features a rare glimpse at an introspective Vaughn as David Wozniak, a lovable loser with an unimpressed girlfriend Emma (Cobie Smulders) who struggles to find meaning and purpose in his life (a.k.a. delayed-twenty-something syndrome).

There’s a bit of a bait-and-switch going on in the trailer as the title suggests Vaughn’s character drives an actual delivery truck, but in this case, “delivery” is of the more, er, in utero variety. See for yourself in the trailer below:

So Wozniak finds his purpose-driven life via paternal-identity lawsuits from 142 of his children?! If anyone can make paternity suits warm and fuzzy and one-liner-y, it’s Vaughn.

Other than manifesting as every broke male college student’s worst nightmare, the sheer multitude of children (533 babes to be exact) that Wozniak unwittingly produces as a sperm donor is kind of hard to believe, sort of how Carrie Bradshaw managed to live and play in Manhattan on a columnist’s salary. Skeptics aside, Delivery Man is due Nov. 22.
