Fox Nabs the 'Broadchurch' Mystery

BBC America's popular crime show crosses the pond

TCA also brought intriguing news for rabid murder-mystery fans: Fox is developing a U.S. version of the British crime drama Broadchurch. American audiences are just now getting a look at the series, about the murder of a boy in the titular seaside town, on BBC America, where it debuted Aug. 7. It became a pop culture phenomenon in the U.K. when its eight episodes were broadcast earlier this year. ”Everywhere you went everybody was asking, ‘Who done it?”’ star David Tennant says to EW. ”And then at the same time going, ‘Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know…oh, but I do want to know.”’ Both BBC America and Fox are betting that Americans will find Broadchurch just as addictive as Brits did. Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly tells us, ”The series is so well executed, we are not going to be changing it a lot.”
