Casting Net: Rob Lowe signs on for 'Sex Tape' comedy, more

• Rob Lowe continues to poke fun at himself and his scandalous past. The 80’s heart throb has joined the cast of Sex Tape, starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel as a married couple who attempt to film themselves and then lose the tape. Lowe will not be participating in the tape — he’ll play the part of a high-powered CEO who comes across the tape in the Jake Kasdan-directed comedy. [Deadline]

American Horror Story’s Lily Rabe will take on the role of Hunger Games victor and rebellion leader Commander Lyme in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2. [Variety]

• You might not know the name Emily Ratajkowski just yet, but chances are you’ve seen her work in one of the summer’s most popular music videos — Robin Thicke’s risqué “Blurred Lines,” which prominently features the young actress/model. She has reportedly joined the cast of David Fincher’s adaptation of Gone Girl to play the part of Andie, a college student and mistress of Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck). [TheWrap]

• Laurie Holden, who plays the divisive Andrea on AMC’s The Walking Dead, has joined the cast of Dumb and Dumber To in a key role. She’ll play the part of Adele Pichlow, a scheming wife who tries to use Harry (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd (Jim Carrey) to help cover up the corrupt dealings of her wealthy husband (Steve Tom) in the Bobby and Peter Farrelly-directed sequel. Rachel Melvin (Heroes) has also been cast as the Pichlow daughter. [Deadline; THR]

• Mark Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Matthew Goode (Stoker), and Rory Kinnear (Skyfall) have all joined the cast of The Imitation Game, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the famed British mathematician and cryptologist Alan Turing who was later condemned for being gay and driven to suicide. Keira Knightley also stars in the drama based on Andrew Hodges’ book Alan Turing: The Enigma for director Morten Tyldum. [THR]

• Michael Sheen and Juno Temple are set to star in Far From the Madding Crowd –– adapted from the Thomas Hardy novel about Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan) and her many suitors, played by Sheen, Tom Sturridge, and Mattias Schoenarts. Danish filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg (The Hunt) is directing. John Schlesinger directed Julie Christie and Terence Stamp in a 1967 adaptation. [Variety]
