Casting Net: Kristen Stewart in talks for a sci-fi love story

• Felicity Jones may have helped put director Drake Doremus on the map with her affecting performance in his lovely indie Like Crazy, and then again in Breathe In, but Doremus is eying a new heroine for his next project: Kristen Stewart. The director is reportedly courting the Twilight star and Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies) for Equals, a science fiction love story. Moon scribe Nathan Parker wrote the script. [Deadline]

• Will Smith is reportedly attached to star in the 20th Century Fox thriller Selling Time about a guy who is given the option to add seven years to his life — as long as he agrees to go through his worst day once more. No director is attached to the long-gestating project (Smith was actually first attached years ago, as was Tom Cruise). Eagle Eye scribe Dan McDermott wrote the first version of the script, and Spike Lee, and Derick and Steven Martini have all written versions as well. [The Wrap]

Wire alum Michael K. Williams, who also has a bit part in 12 Years a Slave, will star opposite David Oyelowo, Kate Mara, and Mimi Rogers in Captive, a thriller about a recovering addict who gets taken hostage by a convicted serial killer. [Deadline]

• Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard) has scored roles in Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and Russell Crowe’s The Water Diviner. He’ll play a WWII pilot in Jolie’s Lou Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) pic and a WWI Lieutenant Colonel in Crowe’s directorial debut. [Deadline]

• Sienna Miller, who appears in A Case of You with Justin Long, is taking a comedic turn in Ken Scott’s Business Trip with Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson, and June Diane Raphael. Miller also has a role in Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher, which was recently pushed to a 2014 release. [Deadline]

• James DuMont (Treme) will play a USO envoy in Tate Taylor’s James Brown biopic Get On Up, staring 42’s Chadwick Boseman as the legendary musician. [The Wrap]

• Thomas Mann, who recently appeared in Project X, will play a character with a major crush on Hailee Steinfeld’s teenage assassin in Kyle Newman’s Barely Lethal. He’ll also play a kid who falls for a girl who happens to be overweight in Ian McDonald’s Some Freaks, which Neil LaBute is producing. [Deadline]

• Disney star Dove Cameron (Liv and Maddie) has also joined Barely Lethal. [THR]

• Joshua Leonard (Humpday) will play a former punk rocker and father to Chloe Moretz’s character in If I Stay, an adaptation of Gayle Forman’s novel about a teenager whose family dies in an accident. [Deadline]
