Casting Net: Dustin Hoffman teams up with Adam Sandler, more

Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man) and Golden Globe-winner Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire) are set to join Adam Sandler in The Cobbler. Plot details are being kept secret, but The Cobbler is the brainchild of Win Win and The Station Agent writer-director Thomas McCarthy. [The Wrap]

• Ron Livingston (Drinking Buddies) has joined the cast of Supreme Ruler, a comic indie drama about two men competing to be the “Supreme Ruler�� of their local Buffalo Lodge. The other lead will be played by Vincent D’Onofrio (Escape Plan). Duane Edwards is making his feature directorial debut on the project, which also stars Marcia Gay Harden (The Newsroom) and Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker). [THR]

• Katie Chang, who starred as the leader of The Bling Ring in Sofia Coppola‘s take on the teenage burglars, will join Kristen Stewart, Glenn Close, Corey Stoll, Michael K. Williams, and Sam Waterston in Anesthesia, about a group of New Yorkers connected by a common Columbia philosophy professor (Waterston). Tim Blake Nelson is writing, directing, and producing the movie. [THR]

• Hill Harper (CSI: NY) will play a supporting role in the Blumhouse thriller The Boy Next Door, starring Jennifer Lopez and Kristin Chenoweth. [THR]

Ass Backwards team Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael have sold a pitch to Gary Sanchez Productions (Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s production company), which they would write and also star in. [Deadline]
