Casting Net: Sandra Bullock in talks to join a George Clooney project; Plus, Jason Segel cast as David Foster Wallace, more

* Sandra Bullock, who just picked up a SAG nomination for her work in Gravity, is in early talks to star in the comedy Our Brand Is Crisis for producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy's Peter Straughan wrote a script based on a 2005 documentary about the use of American political campaign techniques in the 2002 Bolivian presidential election. EW's Entertainer of the Year is currently voicing the lead role in The Minions, set for a July 2015 release. [The Wrap]

* Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) are attached to star in The End of the Tour, based on Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky's account of his road trip with Infinite Jest author David Foster Wallace, who committed suicide in 2008. Segel will play Wallace and Eisenberg will play Lipsky. The Spectacular Now's James Ponsoldt will direct off of a script from Yale professor and playwright Donald Margulies (Dinner with Friends). * Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) is in talks to take on the role of John Connor in the Terminator reboot, which Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) is directing. Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson are still in the mix to play his mother, Sarah Connor, and Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to return to reprise his role as the Terminator. [Deadline]

* Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to join Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgard as the titular tree-swinger. David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) is directing the new interpretation for Warner Bros. [Variety]

* Simon Pegg (The World's End) is teaming up with Monty Python members John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Terry Jones for the film Absolutely Anything. The Python guys will voice aliens who give a sad sack teacher (Pegg) powers in the live-action/CG hybrid. [SlashFilm]

* Frank Grillo (End of Watch) will lead up the sequel to The Purge for micro-budget horror experts Blumhouse Productions. James DeMonaco will return to direct the follow-up, but plot details are being kept under wraps. The original starred Ethan Hawke as his family's patriarch, trying to protect the homestead on the one day a year that citizens are allowed to commit crimes. [Deadline]

* Masters of Sex star Caitlin FitzGerald has joined the indie comedy Brother's Keeper. She'll play Nick Kroll's character's girlfriend who breaks up with him after he loses his job and moves back home. Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale also star in the Ross Katz-directed pic. [Deadline]

* Laura Dern (Enlightened) will play Andrew Garfield's widowed mother in 99 Homes. The movie tells the story of a down and out contractor (Garfield) who gets into the foreclosure game with the realtor (Michael Shannon) responsible for his eviction. Ramin Bahrani (At Any Price) is directing the film, which is currently underway in New Orleans. Dern's next release is the big screen adaptation of John Green's YA novel The Fault In Our Stars (out June 6, 2014). [Deadline]

* Colm Feore (Revolution) will play a military doctor in the sci-fi thriller Painkillers from director Peter Winther. [Deadline]

* Rachel Nichols (Conan) has joined the card shark indie comedy Dice from director Simon Davidson (The Odds). [Variety]

* Ouija, the thriller based on the classic board game, has added The Fosters' Bianco Santos and Red Widow's Erin Moriarty.[THR]
