• Two-time Oscar winner Jessica Lange will join Mark Wahlberg and Brie Larson in Paramount’s remake of The Gambler. The American Horror Story star will play the wealthy mother of Wahlberg’s character, who is struggling with debt. The 64-year-old actress can be seen next in the thriller In Secret, with Oscar Isaac and Elizabeth Olsen (out Feb. 21). [Deadline]

Helena Bonham Carter is in talks to star alongside Carey Mulligan (Inside Llewyn Davis) in Suffragette, about the early days of grassroots campaigning for women’s civic rights. Sarah Gavron (Brick Lane) is set to direct. [Variety]

• Rodrigo Santoro (Love Actually) will co-star in The 33, about the Chilean miners who were trapped for nearly 70 days in 2010. Patricia Riggen (Girl in Progress) is directing the movie, which also stars Antonio Banderas and Juliette Binoche. Santoro, who plays the Chilean Minister of Mining, can be seen next in 300: Rise of an Empire (out March 7). [Variety]

• Josh Hopkins (Cougar Town) will play music producer Ralph Bass in the James Brown biopic Get On Up, starring 42’s Chadwick Boseman as Brown. The Help’s Tate Taylor is directing a cast that includes Octavia Spencer, Dan Aykroyd, and Viola Davis. [The Wrap]

• Dylan Baker (Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues) and Mike Colter (The Good Wife) will star American Is Still the Place, an indie about an oil spill on Stinson Beach. Patrick Gilles (Olive) is writing and directing. [The Wrap]

• Matthew Fox (Lost) and Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) are in talks to star in Welcome to Harmony, a post-apocalyptic horror pic about an infection that turns people into beasts. Kidnapped director Miguel Angel Vivas will make his English-language debut on the project. [The Wrap]
