'The Mentalist' casts Lisbon's new beau

The Mentalist has found Lisbon’s new flame!

EW has confirmed that Pedro Pascal, who will appear in the upcoming fourth season of Game of Thrones as Prince Oberyn Martell, has landed the recurring role of charming FBI Special Agent Marcus Pike, who will romance Robin Tunney’s Lisbon.

EW was the first to report the news that Lisbon would be getting a new romantic interest, and in breaking the news, executive producer Bruno Heller explained that the character would be an important part of Lisbon’s evolution. “In order for her to fulfill herself — even if she eventually fulfills herself with Jane, which she may or may not do — she has to find other relationships, other perspectives, other people who love her, just to feel fully who she is,” Heller said. “It’s very important for her to be able to step away from Jane and see herself for herself.”

Pascal will make his debut in episode 16 and is set to appear in at least five episodes in the second half of the season, which resumes March 9. TVLine first reported the casting.
