Brian Williams apologizes to Arsenio Hall

Late night wars: They aren’t just Jay Leno versus everyone.

Brian Williams — charmingly! — apologized to Arsenio Hall yesterday after leaving him off a picture of all the late night hosts during a segment about Jimmy Fallon on NBC Nightly News.

Hall didn’t take too well to the original snub, pointing it out on his own program earlier this week. Hall brought out Suge Knight — for reasons unexplained — and Knight proceeded to go off-script and jokingly threaten that the snub needed to be correct…or else. Later, Hall reported that NBC switchboards were blowing up with people demanding this grievous wrong be righted.

Williams, of course, made everything right. (Would you expect anything else from the most laid-back serious man on TV?) During yesterday’s NBC Nightly News broadcast, Williams, while also calling out an also-forgotten Pete Holmes, chalked up the omission of Hall’s photo to “being on the air at 4 AM in the morning in Russia,” as well as noting that mistakes are inevitable.

Hall seemed touched by the apology, so this is one late night feud that can finally be put to bed — at least until the next time Hall wants a jolt of publicity. Watch this Arsenio Hall Show clip for a rundown of the past week’s events:
