Brothers & Sisters alum Dave Annable is giving the prime-time soap world another go.
EW has learned that Annable has been cast as a series regular in Fox pilot Red Band Society, the hospital soap about a group of teenage patients who form a bond while being treated in a children’s wing. Octavia Spencer also recently signed onto the project.
Annable, who last appeared in ABC’s 666 Park Avenue, will play Dr. William McAndrew, a rock star pediatric oncologist and surgeon who is compassionate and dedicated to his job but tries — usually in vain — not to get attached to his young patients.
The one-hour dramedy, from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, is considered a strong contender for fall. Fox will announce its official 2014-15 slate in May at the annual Upfronts presentations in New York City. Spielberg, Margaret Nagle and Justin Falvey are among the exec producers.
