Rick Ross tops the album chart, with Pharrell just behind him

Rick Ross might need to update that $92 million bank balance he advertises on Mastermind: His luxuriously dark sixth album sold 179,000 copies last week, earning the number one spot on the Billboard 200. That’s his fifth chart-topping album, which as Billboard points out, puts him in rarified company, trailing only Nas, Kanye West, Eminem, and Jay Z in terms of hip hop number ones. (Last week’s top album, ScHoolboy Q’s Oxymoron, dropped to number eight.)

What about Pharrell, the producer turned merry soulman? G I R L, his second solo album—and first attempt to claim his own groove along the lines of “Blurred Lines” and “Get Lucky”—debuted at number two, moving a healthy 112,000 copies. “Happy,” the long-brewing single that helped the album get there, dug in its heels at number one on the Digital Songs chart, scoring a massive 490,000 downloads—the 13th-largest week ever for a digital track.

Lea Michele, meanwhile, disappointed with the number four debut of Louder, which sold just 60,000 copies despite her starring role on Glee. (Probably because it’s kind of boring.)

And of course, the Frozen soundtrack remains unstoppable, actually gaining in sales (this week, another 97,000) as it verges on becoming the first album to sell one million copies in 2014.

Finally, “#SELFIE” by the Chainsmokers looks to be the year’s first novelty hit: It just moved to number 10 on the Digital Songs chart, and we’re guessing, will soon be impossible to escape.
