Casting Net: Robin Wright, Sam Worthington board 'Everest'

• Robin Wright (House of Cards) and Sam Worthington (Avatar) will join the cast of director Baltasar Kormakur‘s Everest, which is currently shooting in Nepal. The large ensemble includes Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, and John Hawkes. Worthington will play a climbing expert, and Wright will play the wife of Brolin’s character. The Universal pic is set for Sept. 18, 2015, release. [Deadline]

• John Leguizamo (Kick Ass 2) has reportedly signed on to American Ultra, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart. Nima Nourizadeh (Project X) is directing the action/comedy about a stoner who becomes the target of a hostile government operation. Chronicle scribe Max Landis penned the script. [The Wrap]

• Dylan Penn (Robin Wright and Sean Penn’s daughter) will make her big-screen debut in Condemned, a horror movie about a “battle royale” situation that breaks out in a Lower East Side apartment building. How to Make It in America consultant Eli Morgan Gesner is directing off of his own script.

• Bella Thorne (Shake It Up!) has signed on to star in the Blumhouse/Dimension horror film Amityville — a new take on Jay Anson‘s 1977 book, which has been adapted for the big screen twice already (in 1979 with Margot Kidder and James Brolin, and again in 2005 with Ryan Reynolds and Melissa George). Franck Khalfoun (Maniac) will direct the new film, which also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh. [The Wrap]
